This is a picture of a model of the city of Vienna in the 1400's.  In the center, you can make out the Stefansdom (St. Steven's Cathedral).  For centuries, it was the second tallest building in the world, next to the Cheops Pyramid in Giza.  However, it was only shorter by about 3 meters.  Now, it is the second tallest cathedral in the world, second to the cathedral in Ulm, Germany, which was finished in 1890.  Stefansdom was built beginning in 1304, and was finished in 1555.  that's over 250 years!  As you can see, it was a central part of the city.  It still is a major landmark within the city.

Here you can see a picture I took of the main tower of the Stefansdom.  It is beautiful, built in the Gothic style.  The second tower was never finished, because the Gothic style of architecture went out of style!
This trip has been beautiful.  It started out with me going to St. Louis to see Rob and Margaret.  We had a wonderful time window shopping, eating at fancy
restaurants, and talking about our Swancutt family history.  I got to know them so much better, and to love them even more.  This is me
with them the morning that I left St. Louis to come to Vienna.

Hi, everyone.  I am creating a blog so I can upload photos and you all can see what I am doing.  I can then introduce the people in my group and show you the places I am going.  We'll see how my first attempt at a blog goes...
